KITCHEN PARTY - COHEADLINED BY THE NAVIGATORS AND DERINA HARVEY BAND The Navigators From the rocky shores of Newfoundland, Canada The Navigator’s formed in 2000 based on a unique combination of baritone voices and instrumentalists into a folk band that is as much known for its own original contemporary trad as it is for the traditional music. With four full studio albums, and a number of other recording contributions, the group has toured all of Canada, much of the US and Europe. As Music NL’s Award for Folk/Roots Group of the Year (2002), the band has created a name and following across the province that just gets stronger every year. As part of the successful “Celtic Christmas,” the Navigators has enjoyed 13 years of touring NL and even put together a popular CD of the same name along with The Irish Descendant’s (2010). The band’s first CD Dance and Sing was the longest running #1 selling CD at Fred’s Record’s in St. John’s, holding the spot for almost a full decade and is still the #4 best selling CDs of all time! In 2021, The Navigators were invited to record a song from the Broadway musical Come From Away by its producers. Their version of Welcome to the Rock became an instant favourite and was released early as a part of Apple TVs movie version of the musical Derina Harvey Band Derina Harvey leads the award-winning Celtic Rock group, the Derina Harvey Band (dHb). With a show that offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs as well as a few originals, Derina’s vibrant personality takes center stage with humour, storytelling, and, of course, her powerful vocals. That voice earned her a 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for “Contemporary Singer of the Year”. dHb has been likened to a “rockier” version of Canada’s Great Big Sea, if fronted by Adele. The group took home the 2024 East Coast Music Award for “Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the Year”, and is also nominated for a 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for “New/Emerging Artist of the Year”. The accolades are deserved, as this Celtic Rock group has a high-energy live show that leaves audiences hollering from their seats. dHb concerts can be adapted to suit any venue; whether it’s a captivating night of telling stories through song for an audience in a Performing Arts Center, or a dinner and dance in a community hall. The band has covered a fair amount of Canada via the performing arts and festival circuits and is now poised to do the same in the United States. They were very well-received at six juried US showcases: Arts Northwest (2017 Best in Showcase Award, 2024), Western Arts Alliance (2018), Performing Arts Exchange (2018), Ohio Arts Professionals Network (2022), North Carolina ArtsMarket (2023). Following these, the band has quickly begun to make inroads from coast to coast in the US. The group enjoyed a huge wave of new online followers from across the globe via TikTok. dHb’s recording of Tom Lewis’s “The Last Shanty” was used in thousands of videos on the platform, introducing the band to a whole new generation of listeners. The band has three albums to their credit, with the latest being “Waves of Home” (2023).
